What's the difference between pre-release domain lists and deleting domain lists?
Domains that expire generally undergo a 76-day deletion cycle, beginning on the day following their expiration date.  Most majors registrars have exclusive partnerships with one of three major auction services -- SnapNames, NameJet, or TDNAM/GoDaddy Auctions -- though a few other minor ones exist.  If the original registrant fails to renew the domain name within several days (usually 5-30) into the deletion cycle, the owning registrar may grant their exclusive partner permission to auction off the domain to the highest bidder, with the partner and registrar splitting the proceeds.  Domains undergoing such auctions are called "pre-release" (recently expired) domains, which generally "release" (get auctioned off) 45 days into the deletion cycle.  If the domain receives one or more bids by the release point, it's either awarded to the highest bidder (GoDaddy auctions) or it escalates into a 3-day private auctions amongst the bidders (SnapNames/NameJet); if the domain receives no bids, it continues spiraling through the deletion cycle.

By approximately day 70 into the deletion cycle, the domain enters a state called pendingDelete in which it's irrecocably queued to become available 6 days later.  We refer to these, domains, fated for deletion, as "deleting domains" or "dropping domains".

NameFlipper pre-release domain lists consist of domains scheduled to release on the date specified, while deleting domain lists comprise domains slated to become available on the date specified.  NOTE: Around 10-20% of the time, pre-release domains become renewed by their registrants during the pre-release period, in which case their pre-release auctions abruptly terminate and disappear.

Which type of list will make me the most money?

We design deleting domain lists to maximize short-term ROI and pre-release lists to maximize absolute returns.

Pre-Release Domain Lists: TDNAM/GoDaddy auctions are responsible for roughly 50% of the domains on each pre-release list.  GoDaddy imposes a low overhead minimum cost ($11.57) for obtaining pre-release domains.  Most of the remaining pre-release domains lie under SnapNames and NameJets' jurisdictions.  SN and NJ enforce much higher minimum pre-release bids ($59-$119, depending on the underlying registrar).  However, pre-release domains boast higher average quality, cater to higher market-cap industries, demarcate better-known products and services, generate 3-4x as much parking revenue, and receive substantially more out-of-the-blue inquiries from potential buyers than deleting domains do.  NameFlipper users who fail to quick-flip their SnapNames/NameJet pre-release domains therefore readily keep them for the long haul.  If you're domaining on a liquid budget of $2500+ or plan on domaining for the medium/long term, choose a pre-release domain list.

Deleting Domain Lists: Because one can catch the majority of deleting domains, even the .COM names, for either $8.99 using GoDaddy backorders or for $7.19 manually, the overhead cost of pursuing most deleting domain names is extremely low.  However, some of the higher-quality domains will require a backorder on SnapNames (costs $59+ if caught), NameJet ($69+ if caught), or Pool.com ($60+ if caught) to grab as other domainers will likely be chasing them as well.  NameFlipper will suggest which backorder method(s) you should call upon to spend least while gaining most.  If you're domaining on a liquid budget under $2500 or need cash imminently, choose a deleting domain list.

When pitched by e-mail using methods resembling our own, 30-35% of NameFlipper-recommended pre-release domains and 15-20% of our dropping domains sell at satisfying prices within four weeks.  Following up these e-mail correspondences with phone calls usually boost the sellers' chances beyond these figures.  On average, pre-release domains sell for $450 each (typically $3000 max.) and deleting domains for $250 apiece (typically $750 max).

Many NameFlipper newbies begin by bidding on deleting domain lists, then re-invest their profits into pre-release lists.
